A weekend with Perry Stone

The Assemblies of God church located around the corner from my UMC church hosted a prophecy seminar this week.  The guest speaker was Perry Stone.  I’ve watched his TV show, Manna-Fest and really enjoyed his biblical teachings.  So, when I heard he was coming, I made plans to attend.

I was only able to attend 3 of 9 sessions, but I purchased the CD of what I missed.  Today is laundry and listening day.

I learned a lot, such as there are three types of time:

  • Linear time – such as a timeline
  • Horizontal time – spiritual time chronically your movement toward (and away from) God.
  • Circular time – For example, every seven days is the Sabbath or history repeats itself

My 8 yr old son complained to me that he routinely woke up at 3:18AM and had trouble going back to sleep.  At the conference (and my son attended with us), we learned the Jews believe God walks the earth every morning 2hrs before sunrise and binds satan.  At 3AM, humans are most near God.  We learned that Jesus routinely prayed during the 4th watch (3-6AM), and that many Jews still awaken 2 hrs before sunrise to pray.  Jesus walked on water at 3AM!

I will never look at 3AM the same way again.

My tentative New Year’s Resolutions

  1. Finish my Barbara Randle Crazy Quilt (only a few squares left)
  2. Cancel my gym membership
  3. Complete a garment for ME!
  4. Bake homemade snacks and sweets for my kids (instead of store bought).

2008 New Year’s Resolution List

  1. Offer heartfelt compliments to friends, family and strangers.  See My New Years Resolution for 2008 «
  2. Enter at least 2 quilt competitions (I’ve ordered fabric for the Quilting Keepsakes Home challenge).
  3. Be more generous.
  4. Content with what I’ve already got. (harder than it sounds…)

A few years ago, my new years resolutions was to never have a resolution to diet and exercise.

The old man is not welcome in my house

I’ve had lots of fun with my 5 year old since Christmas.  Although, I am not a huge fan of video games, I purchased PJ a DS for Christmas from Santa.  He had not asked for a DS, becase he KNEW I would NEVER allow him to ahve one.  So, he was thrilled Christmas morning to find a DS under the tree.  Well, I pitched a fit and said that “old man” was on my naughty list and that he had never set foot back into my house because he brought ANOTHER video came into it. PJ laughed, because santa pulled one on Momma, and that’s always funny.

The toher day, he asked me if I was still mad at Santa. I told him that next year I was thinking about nailing up the fireplace so that naughty old man couldn’t get into our house to leave more contraband toys.  PJ laughed and told me Santa had a magic key to get into anybodies house.

I have no idea where he heard that from.  Can you imagine!?  Magic key?

My New Years Resolution for 2008

My 2006 New Years Resolution was to find a church and start attending.  We did find a church that year and hardly missed a service.

My 2007 New Years Resolution was to read the bible in one year.  I didn’t make my goal, but I’ve read more of the bible this year than I have in my whole life – combined.

My resolution for 2008 is to freely offer hear-felt compliments to anyone I want – whenever I want.  I’ve already started and I must say, it is very rewarding for me, too.  I’ve emailed a fiber artists I admire and received a sweet email from her.  Then, this week, I emailed a magazine author about a article in Quilting Arts Gifts.  I received another sweet email from here.

As an artists, I know how much it means to me to receive an unsolicited, unexpected compliment.  It is especially nice to receive a surprise in your mailbox – email box or post box.  So, I have decided to make this my resolution.

Olivia dressed up as a Geisha. She liked her makeup, too. I was surprised her lips stayed on, but she resisted the urge to lick her lips. I know that was hard.

Halloween Skeleton

PJ dressed up as a skeleton. I got the makeup idea from another blog – www.susannassketchbook.typepad.com

He is the sweetest kid. He thought he looked so good in his costume.

My mom went as “Angelina Jolie when she was dating Billy Bob Thornton” for Halloween.

Edited 01/08/2008 – My mom called and very nicely asked if I would remove her Halloween picture from my blog.  (Read between the lines – she threatened me, and I am too sick to defend myself.)

Edited 10/09/2008 – I’m not sick anymore.  And, this is the funniest picture.  Sorry Mom.

My New Fall Centerpiece

Last night, I decided it was time to pull out the Halloween decorations from the attic.  My kids were dying to see all the treasures.  After dinner, I pulled down the attic ladder and a box fell out of the attic, hit me on the way down and busted on the concrete garage floor.  I wasn’t hurt (except my finger, when I tried to catch the box), but I was shocked.  Nothing has ever fallen out of the attic before.  I’m still not sure how it happened.

Anyway, it took me a minute to gather my wits before I realized what had fallen.  I nearly cried when I realized it was my Christmas Village.  I had several houses and peoples and stuff.  All but one house was distroyed (think tornado).  I cleaned up the mess, and stifled the tears.  Stuff happens.

An hour later, I finally started brining down the Halloween decorations. The kids were overjoyed looking at their Halloween tshirts and stuffed animals.  I even found a Halloween village that I forgot I had.

Anyway, this morning I decided to make a fall centerpiece for my kitchen table.

Edited on 12/23/08 to correct spelling errors.  Grrr
