100 Things about ME
- I grew up in Prattville, Alabama, but we called it Pratt-vegas.
- I was born in Birmingham, but moved to Prattville the summer before 3rd grade.
- My first car was a Ford Escort stationwagon.
- My mother found a bottle of wine in said station-wagon
- My first “real” boyfriends took me to a Bryan Adams concert in Birmingham, and then to a party afterwards. I got drunk and threw up in his truck, and then he was arrested (by my dad) and was sent to the Panama Canal by the Air Force.
- I’ve attended 4 different colleges: University of Alabama, Auburn University at Montgomery, Troy State and Bessemer State Technical
- I was declined entry into University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB)
- I had a stalker in my early 20s.
- I was sexually harassed by a co-worker at SouthTrust Bank. He was later fired. My most vivid memory of the freak is when he told me I had a “Body like a bag full of bobcats.”
- I wish now – at 42 – I had a body like a bag full of bobcats, but 2 kids took care of that.
- My first dog, Fred, was a mutt.
- Once we had 20 cats living in our garage. Our 4 cats each had 4 kittens within a few days of each other.
- I am in the Motley Crue “Home Sweet Home” video
- My first job was in high school. I worked at Wendy’s, but quit during football season. I didn’t want to miss a game my senior year.
- My second job was at GNC in the mall.
- I caught a shoplifter at GNC.
- While working at GNC, an older man, Ameen, purchased silk scarf as a gift for me. He attended church one Sunday with me and my family.
- For High School graduation my parents bought me a new car, an Isuzu Impulse.
- I am an adventurous eater. If I see something unusual on a menu, I order it.
- I met my husband in a bar and neither of us drink.
- We married 8 months later
- I used to play darts and was pretty good at it.
- I’ve been married for 16 years – YIKES
- I had a book deal with Random House to write an SAP book.
- I left my 4 month old baby girl to work in Atlanta for a “can’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity” I don’t work in SAP anymore
- I doubled my salary in 1998.
- When I work, I usually make more than my husband.
- I am a work at home, mommy, professional.
- My favorite animal is an Italian Greyhound.
- My grandfather called me Susie-Q. I miss him terribly.
- My husband calls me Sha-na-na.
- My favorite books are: Gone with the Wind, The Eight
- I read GWTW before I saw the movie. The book is way better.
- I’ve only written one fan letter. It was to Katherine Neville, who wrote The Eight. I’ve never read anything else by her.
- I love southern authors.
- I don’t believe in book censorship.
- I am addicted to podcasts.
- I am a magazine junkie.
- I used to collect everything. Now, I collect nothing.
- I am learning to live with less and like it.
- My favorite vacation was to San Francisco in my early 20s.
- In high school my parents were friends with a creepy man and I am pretty sure he was molesting his daughters.
- I am a crafter, but only recently learned to crochet.
- My first “big” craft project was to make a heart shaped hatbox out of poster board while in high school.
- Nancy Zieman (of Sewing with Nancy) was my professor at the University of Alabama. She was my favorite professor.
- I have a scar on my elbow because of Nancy Zieman.
- I have taken sewing classes with Sandra Betzina (didn’t care for her) and with Barbara Randle (loved her).
- I have a scar on my lip from falling on an ashtray as a toddler.
- One eye is bigger than the other and it drives me crazy.
- I dye my hair and love to change hair colors.
- My hair and nails grow freakishly fast.
- I played basketball in high school.
- My basketball coach married my classmate.
- My basketball coach was fired from his job because he threw a pencil at a student and it stabbed him in the shoulder.
- I share a birthday with J-Lo and Amelia Earhart
- I played clarinet and took piano lessons. Now, I can play neither
- Until we moved to Florida 2 years ago, my Alabama driver’s license still listed my weight as 126
- My cholesterol level in 1988 was 112 – in 2010, 120!
- I got married with braces on my teeth
- I had chicken pox as a adult. It was terrible.
- Rick and I honeymooned at Myrtle Beach, SC.
- I was on bedrest while pregnant with Olivia. I took Breathine every 4 hours around the clock. I believe Breathine shaved years off my life.
- I hate talking on the phone. If you need me, text.
- My first boyfriend gave me a promise ring in 1st grade. We played bride and groom.
- When Rick and I were dating, I had a bad cold. To be sweet, he brought me food – a Taco Bell Burrito. I spend the rest of the night vomiting.
- I’ve visited three foreign countries – Great Britain, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
- I love red-headed men and boys. My first boyfriend had red hair and freckles.
- I remember when Elvis died and President Reagan was shot.
- I voted for George Bush the first time I was eligible to vote.
- I had a peeping tom in my early 20s and it wasn’t the stalker.
- My stalker attempted to kidnap me in a very crowded outdoor location and no one tried to help me. Fortunately, I was able to get away.
- I think Little Debbie cakes are nasty.
- My favorite color is Orange. It used to be red.
- I have two kids.
- My daughter has Scoliosis.
- My favorite season in Fall.
- My favorite song is Lady in Red.
- I am stuck in the 80s and usually only listen to 80s music.
- My New Year’s resolution in 2006 was to start attending church
- My New Year’s resolution in 2007 was to read the Bible.
- I love crafting, but hate scrapbooking. You spend all that time and money on scrapbook pages, but no one wants to look at them.
- I have rosacea.
- Rick and I once owned a Record Label and released an album.
- While pregnant, I worked at MedPartners. A co-worker was fired because he was surfing porn in my cube in the middle of the night. He accidentally left tale tell signs on my desk… a legal pad listing porn sites. I found it and gave it to my boss. I assured her that at 6 months preg, I had no interest in porn. I didn’t know who was doing it, until he was fired.
- The worst book I ever read was Ya-Ya Sisterhood. I couldn’t even finish it. The second worst was Forrest Gump, but the movie was awesome.
- I once dated a preacher. He broke up with me, because I didn’t meet his spiritual needs.
- My favorite TV shows are: Survivorman on Discovery, Big Bang Theory, Survivor: Pearl Island,
- I love Les from Survivorman, but I haven’t commited adultry in my heart, because he always looks so dirty on TV. I’m pretty sure that is the only reason.
- I think all the movie stars my age look older than they really are because they are too skinny. They should gain 10 lbs and look 10 years younger.
- Rick and I once considered buying a house next door to Courtney Cox’s grandmother.
- We are finished having children
- We weren’t planning to have any children
- Both children were a huge surprise
- My first record single I ever bought was “The Devil went down to Georgia. It is still a favorite.
- My other childhood favorite songs/artists are: Don’t it make my brown eyes blue by Crystal Gale and YMCA by Village People
- I love to drive fast, but don’t because it isn’t safe.
- I always wear my seat-belt.
- I miss having a studio
- I hate Hurricanes
- We are the only family in our whole neighborhood to have major damage from Hurricane Dennis, nearly $30K of damage.
